Boom Supersonic CEO Says United Airlines Deal Could Reshape Airline Industry


United Airlines announced plans this week to upgrade its fleet of planes with 15 new supersonic jets from Boom Supersonic, which they expect to be in service by 2029. Boom founder and CEO Blake Scholl joined Cheddar to discuss how the United deal for its Overture jets could reshape the entire airline industry, expanding its reach to more remote destinations. “What we’re talking about here is going to make Sydney, Australia, as accessible as Honolulu is today,” he said. The planned fleet will also be entirely carbon neutral to address sustainability, according to Scholl.
