While many people are looking forward to jetting abroad for holidays now covid travel restrictions finally seem to be easing, there are plenty of pet owners who don't want to leave their beloved companions behind and are instead booking for dog-friendly breaks in the UK.

Veterinary experts at dog supplement firm YuMove have issued advice one what you need to think about when travelling on holiday with your pet, after reporting that Google searches for ‘dog friendly holiday cottages’ have increased by 850% since this time last year.

With 12.5 million dogs now living in the UK, many hotels, holiday lets, restaurants and attractions are choosing to welcome both two and four legged guests through their doors.

But Dr Jayne Laycock, resident vet at YuMOVE warns pet owners to do their research before they book: She said: “It's amazing that so many dog owners want to take their pets away on holiday with them. It’s definitely a great time to bond with your pet, and exploring new places allows you to be more active together. However, it’s also important to think carefully about your dog’s needs to ensure they stay safe and well throughout your time away. Yes, this may require a bit more forward thinking and planning than usual, but it’ll be worth it to build those lasting memories together with your pet.”
